Summit Point July 04 - July 05, 2009
Independence Day weekend. Time to go racing at Summit Point.
First, the highlights - I scored my first expert podiums with a 2nd and two 3rds! JP scored another podium as well to continue his run of strong performances. I also dropped my lap times to the mid 1:17s - a full second per lap faster than I ran in May. Things got off to a tenuous start with a low-speed crash during the first practice session Saturday morning. Relatively cool temps, heavy morning dew and some less than ideal pavement sealer combined put me down. Thankfully it was in turn 5, the slowest corner on the track. There was just enough damage to the bike to keep me out of the 2nd round of practice while I completed repairs. The biggest loss was that of my quick-shifter; God, I love that thing.
